Urban Decay Glinda Palette Review and Swatches

I'm gonna be honest, when the Oz the Great and Powerful Urban Decay palettes came out they didn't really call my name. After a while, seeing the palette and the swatches everywhere, I started to really want it. I didn't fall for it at first, but it just grew on me and I HAD TO have it! I thought it was gorgeous and it had to be part of my collection!

So, when the 1 year anniversary with the bf came up(yay!), he said: "order it". Like, he made me order my anniversary present. His reason? He might screw up, I think it's sweet because he doesn't know the first thing about shopping on Sephora and probably wouldn't know how to find the palette, also he wouldn't know how to get me freebies or what freebies I'd like! Anyways, I talk about the "haul" that includes this palette, here

Doesn't it just look super pretty? I mean, look at those colors! In my opinion, they are all super wearable. Then again- I do like dramatic eyes and I have no problem with color :)

Urban Decay Glinda Palette Swatches

These pictures are swatches from the top row of the palette. Left side is with primer and right side is without. From left to right, the shades are: Magic, Aura(two shades) and Tornado.

Magic: Gorgeous pink shade, with just the right amount of blue and red for my taste. It's hard to appreciate it's subtleties in the picture, but it has the most gorgeous golden shimmer. You can sorta see it on the close up with primer. This one doesn't have much fall out. It can be used in a really soft look on the crease or as an eyelid color for DRAMA! UD calls this one pinkish purple, but it's definitely a pink with a bunch of blue.

Taken from Ohnotheydidn't!

Aura: Both of these shades are iridescent and just to die for! The "white" one has the most gorgeous blue-purpleish iridescence. I've shared my love of purple before, so I just love this one, clearly! I confess, I'm a cat and I'm attracted to shiny objects! I literally was staring at my swatch for like a minute there lol! The "peach/cream" one has a pink iridescence, super super pretty! The "white" one is definitely more shimmery than the "peach/cream" one. Urban Decay says they are both white and that one has blue iridescence and the other one is red. I beg to differ, which is why I called them "white" and "peach/cream". They don't have much fall out either and would work on the brow bone, inner eye corner, or all over the lid. They are not the most pigmented shades in the palette though. But still, they are both just gorgeous!!

Tornado: I won't disagree with Urban Decay on their description for this one, it is indeed a deep purple with shimmer. Super pretty. It's amazing on the crease! However, out of the top row, this one is the one with most fall out, which is not really a deal breaker for me, I don't care! It's too pretty to care!

Urban Decay Glinda Palette Swatches
Oh so pretty! This is the bottom row of shadows. Same as with the previous picture- left is with primer, right is without. From left to right, the shades are: South, Oz(two shades) and Illusion.

South: UD describes it as: "warm pale gray shimmer with silver micro glitter" and I don't disagree. It's such a warm gray that it might even look a bit brown. It has a tiny bit of fall out, but not much really. This would work amazingly on the crease for a soft neutral look or even as an all over lid color for a brown smokey.

Oz: Gold shimmer with gold glitter and silver shimmer with silver glitter. The silver is super pigmented, the gold one is not as pigmented. The glitter flakes in the silver one look a bit smaller and really blend in with the shimmer, so it's hard to spot the glitter. The glitter in the gold one however does show up a bit more and the light might make it look silver on occasion. Both of these are the two shades with the most fall out in the palette. Definitely do your eye make up first, if you plan to wear these! They can work as a crease shade or an eyelid shade.

Illusion: UD calls this a "pale peach satin" and I won't disagree with this one either. That description is dead on, that is exactly what it is and I couldn't call it anything else. This shade is really pretty, this is as well pigmented as Aura. It doesn't have much fall out. This shade could work as an all over shadow shade, on the brow bone or on the inner corner of the eye.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil Rockstar swatch

24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Rockstar: UD calls this beauty a deep eggplant and that's it! It's not just that, UD. It's not just an eggplant color! It's got a fabulous slightly shimmery shade too. This has been my go-to lower lash line liner for a bit now and I even tried it on my upper lash line. On both lids it doesn't move an inch! It's got staying power through sweat and tears, in tropical weather that is humid and hot! And that is pretty good if you ask me. It also looks gorgeous, it's so dark and pretty. I love it, lately I've been reaching for it on a daily basis.

Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color Glinda

Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Glinda: You know how sometimes a product name is not exactly the same as a product color? The name is not 100% accurate on this one. Super-Saturated? Yup. High Gloss? Yup. On my lips, this looks like a "your lips, but better" shade. UD describes it as a "light sheer beige" and this is not a light beige at all. If your lips are not too pigmented, this will look more like a dark beige shade. Also, they don't mention the shimmer that this shade has. It is super pretty and I really like it. Thought I should mention this- this shade is just Naked renamed. It's a nice color, but the name doesn't describe it accurately enough.

Overall review:

I definitely love this palette, what can I say? Most shades are full size, they work well and I love the colors. Most of the time when I review a product it's something that I actually like. I definitely see myself reaching for this palette a lot. I think the value is great and the colors are really easy to work with. All the products are good, it's a good palette! I regret saying what I said when I saw it come out, I said it was boring, now that I have it- I love it!

On a dropsey note (the way the bf calls me)- this palette is pretty sturdy! How do I know? Because, I already dropped it, of course! And nothing happened! So it's dropsey proof!

One thing I might disagree with is the "get the look" card it came with. The "look" isn't Michelle Williams' look in the movie, it's too dark for the character even. I mean, it looks cute, but it's not Glinda. That doesn't really matter, I'm just venting.

Hope you enjoyed this review as much as I enjoy my palette!
Disclaimer: I didn't purchase this with my own money, my bf gave it to me as a present and this is my own personal opinion :)

I know this is simple, maybe even boring, but I like to try the polish by itself, before I do anything else with it. Anyways, I talked about this guy on a drugstore haul, that you can find here. That's two coats of Hard Candy's Little Bo Pink. I think it's pretty cute, though the pictures don't really pick up the cuteness.

FOTD: April 4th

I was trying to go for a really soft, natural look. A lot of people don't like the nude lip look, but I do. So does the bf and I think it actually looks good on me(bf editing: yes it does). I might be wrong, but oh well. Maybe I'm just walking around looking like a clown, haha!

Foundation Primer: Sephora Anti Shine Foundation Primer. I love love love this, it definitely helps me look less shiny! I have two deluxe sized samples, but I'm sure I will repurchase once I run out. I apply this with clean hands.

Foundation: Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touch Eclat in B30 Beige. This was a foil sample that I got from Sephora. I really like how well it matches me, although it will be better once I get a bit darker. I didn't like that it's a bit too liquidy for my taste. I touched my nose by mistake and removed a bit of it, that was way too easy! I need my foundation to be a bit more "bullet proof"! I applied the foundation with my beloved Beauty Blender!

Concealer: Yves Saint Laurent Touch Eclat in N2. I used this as a highlighter. I applied it on top of my foundation, on the bridge of the nose, under my eyes and a bit on my forehead and chin. I think that it did work well and those areas do look slightly highlighted, which is clearly what I was going for. Applied with my fingers and blended with my Beauty Blender.

Bronzer: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil. I got this from a mystery bag from Sephora. It's a deluxe sized sample and I love it so much, it already has a dent in it! I love how well it works as a contour! I applied this on my cheeks, around the hair line, on the jaw line and on the temples. Applied with Sigma's F40 Large Angled Contour Brush.

Blush: elf HD Blush in Superstar, applied with elf's Large Stipple Brush. Careful with this one, because a little goes a long long way and you can end up looking like a clown! We all hate clownface!

Highlighters: Smashbox Soft Lights in Illuminate(don't think they sell it anymore since I can't find a link for it ) on the bridge of the nose, forehead, chin and below the eyes. I applied this with Soho's Powder Brush. Benefit Sunbeam on the cheek bones. I usually apply this with my ring finger(clean hands of course) and blend it in, by lightly tapping the fingers across the cheek bones.

Eye Primer:  Urban Decay Primer Potion(Original). I can't choose between Lorac's Behind the Scenes Eye Primer, Too Faced's Shadow Insurance and UD's Primer Potion, since they all work great, at least for me. I can't spot a difference on the wear or pigmentation. The only difference is the brand, prices and maybe texture of the product. Applied primer all over my eyelids with my ring finger.

Eyeliner: elf Cream Eyeliner in Black all across the lash line, applied with Coastal Scent's Angled Brush. I don't really love this eyeliner from elf,it gets the job done and wears well, but I think it's not as pigmented as I want it to be! I want my black liner to be the blackest black ever!
Essence Kajal Pencil in White applied to my waterline. This is not pigmented at all and I had to warm it up a bit (holding it in front of a light bulb) for it to give me some pigmentation, I definitely need a more skin colored liner for the waterline, white can look a bit creepy.

Mascara: Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes. When I first got this mascara I didn't "love it", but after a few tries I definitely fell in love!

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Scratch on the brow bone and lid, Shag on the lid, Underground blended onto the crease. All from the Deluxe Shadow Box palette.

Lips: Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture in 24.

Brows: Jane Iredale PurePressed Eyeshadow in Dark Suede, this is my go-to eyebrow color, it's not too dramatic and not too boring, best of all, it stays in place all day! I applied it with Soho's Eyeliner Brush.

That eye looks SO creepy! And I forgot to apply mascara to my lower lash line! I should be punished for this! I promise, it's not a daily thing!

Disclaimer: I purchased this with my own money, and this is my own personal opinion :)

Recomended product: Evologie Intensive Blemish Serum

I didn't want to get the February Glossybox, but I did want to try this Evologie product. I honestly don't remember where I found the promo code I used the first time, but I found this awesome promo that with $2.85 gets this sample(pictured above) mailed to your home!! Trying the product and doing it only for $3? Count me in!

These two coupons work:

EVOBSTAT08  Found this coupon on couponfollow
EVOBSTAT01  Found this one on hip2save

Now that you know how to get the sample in case you want it, I can tell you how to get it if you fall in love with it, like I did! They have a travel size sample for $25 that again includes both products and the full size Intensive Blemish Serum retails for $35.

This product got to me super quickly. I ordered it on Saturday and got it by Wednesday! I used this the first time in the morning and when I applied my primer(before applying my foundation) I rubbed it off, which made this product fall into oblivion for me. Until someone on Makeuptalk mentioned they were really liking it, which made me decide to give it a second chance. This time doing something different, applying it as the last part of my beauty routine at night!

The name of this product is quite misleading, not because it's deceiving, but since it says it's a serum I apply it as such and therefor apply it first. However, my advice is to apply it last. The product creates a bit of a film over your skin and will rub off if you mess with it, so apply it last and it will work just fine!

My history with spot balms is that they will always hurt when you apply it to a pimple and that makes me think it's working! But it always takes soooo damn long for the pimple to go away, at least in my case. It could be a month after I got it and I still have a bump on my face. With this guy, it's a whole different story. I can't tell you how long exactly till the pimple goes away, but it's definitely a matter of days for me, which is a huge difference. Also, the stinging after you apply it the product on the pimple is way less and lasts for like a second.

One thing that might bother you some, is the smell of this product, but it's not THAT bad to be honest. It's just tea tree oil scent, which for me is not bad.

I really recommend trying this out, if you do, you are not out a lot of money if you use the coupon of course, which is my advice.

Of course this might not work for you the same way it works for me, because we are all different. The spot treatment I was using before is one that a friend recommended and works wonders for him, but for me it really didn't do much.

I hope you enjoyed this little review, try the product and I hope it works great for you if you do try it :)

Disclaimer: I purchased this with my own money, and this is my own personal opinion :)

NOTD: March 25th

Ugh I hate how this looks like! It's hideous against my skin tone, or at least that's what I think. Either way I thought I should share it, also I said I would share swatches of all my Julep March colors. I know it's a bit late for this, but I'm sorry D: . That's two coats of Julep Debra, which is described as a "Smokey Taupe Crème". I don't like this color one bit on me, maybe on others it will look better, but it made my hands look sick.

The accent nail has a coat of Essie's Shine of Times, which apparently was LE and can't be found anymore! Though I'm sure you could find it on...ebay...And as usual my top coat is Seche Vite.

I'm sorry for the "mood" of this post, I just really hate how this looks on me.
