Drugstore haul Feb 23rd (and some reviews)

I had to pick a few things up at the drugstore. Not only that, but the bf and I were on the hunt for a moisturizer to help with his black heads. We were looking for Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Hydrating Acne Treatment, which has been discontinued by Neutrogena and we were hoping a local drugstore would have it.

Sadly our quest was an epic fail, because we couldn't find it anywhere, so sad. It's like the world wants my bf to keep his black heads...Universe? Why do you hate on the bf? He's nice...most of the time! Ha-ha.

Anyways, thought I'd tell you the end of our sad story and tell you we failed looking for this stuff. I think if we were pirates...we would never find any treasure lmao(how lame did that sound?).

First stop: Walgreens:

I went to Walgreens because I had a coupon for $0.99 off of a Sinful Colors polish. I wanted to pick one up and of course because of the "main quest" mentioned above. While there, one of the girls that works there, told me they had some clearance products in the back of some aisle(bf editing: end cap of aisle sale)! Of course I had to check that out. They had a lot of polish, but mostly boring colors, so I didn't pick any  up.

Studio 35 - Premium Cotton Squares: I ran out of cotton rounds, so I decided to pick some up. I got these cotton squares, they are OK. I like them, they don't get destroyed the second the toner hits them, lol. And they are lint free, big plus when removing polish!

Nailtiques Formula 2: As I mentioned in this post, I have been using Nailtiques Formula 2 to make my nails stronger and it has worked! So I know I love it and mine is half gone. Might as well pick some up since it's regularly $9.99.

Nail Polish Remover Pads: I found these things for $.25, which is super cheap and thought they would be a good idea for emergencies. I don't like them for regular use, because they are oily and stain my nails, but I guess I could use them for an emergency or something. Just in case I might need to save the world by removing nail polish or something, you never know!

Sinful Colors - Hottie: This color caught my eye, it has holo glitter and it's just such a pretty blue! Had to have it!

Almay - Oil-Free Makeup Eraser Sticks: Another "in case of emergency" product. I thought this would be great to have because I constantly screw up while doing my eye make up and it would be handy to have, just in case. Well, since I got this, I find myself reaching for them constantly! I love them, they are super effective, it's just too bad that the package has only 24, because I'm almost out. They became a must in my make up bag.

Neutrogena - Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes Hydrating: These things! They allow the bf to be lazy and not wash his face before he goes to bed, seriously that's what we get them for. I use them sometimes, but mostly I just get one and clean his face when he's half asleep, because he's too lazy to wash his face and just wants to go to bed. I don't really need much of a make up remover, because my cleanser does the job pretty well( Purity by Philosophy). But these are nice for those nights where I just want to pass out in bed and not get up and wash my face. I know I shouldn't, but sometimes you're just so tired, you know? These towelettes are not only gentle and remove the make up, but they also moisturize a bit, which kills two birds with one stone for the bf(he doesn't really wear moisturizer or likes to).

Second stop: CVS:

I walk into CVS and the first thing I see, a table full of make up products on clearance that was definitely calling my name! I don't need any dupes or polishes that are one shade off the other one...(that's what the bf says, "they all look the same").  But that cute Essie caught my eye and it was only $2 and some change.

Revlon - Nail Polish in Enchanting(220): This guy was on my Revlon nail polish wish list and it was the one I wanted the most (except for Girly and Heavenly which I already had by then), so I HAD TO pick it up. It's so pretty, but I haven't used it yet.

Essie - We're in it Together: This polish is a gorgeous soft pink with shimmer, I love the shade, but it's really sheer. It took 3 coats, took forever to dry just for it to show opaque.

Wet n Wild - Teal of Fortune: I've been obsessed with mermaid shades lately, so I had to have this one for sure! It's a dupe of Zoya Charla, Spoiled Deeper Dive, OPI Catch Me In Your Net and probably others.

Third Stop: Target:

By this point I was super tired, I was in what the bf and I call "zombie mode". Zombie mode is when I wander around stores without a destination, with a blank mind just walking through aisles(bf editing: pretty accurate, i know).

I picked up a bottle of much needed Nail Polish Remover. I picked the Up & Up one to try out, I mean not like it really matters, it's just nail polish remover. I Also got  E.L.F Brush Shampoo, because I was about to run out of brush cleanser and wanted to try this one out. The bf got two bottles of Goo Gone...I don't know what he needs that for, but OK. We also got Strawberry and Chocolate Yan Yan, but by the time I took this picture the chocolate one mysteriously disappeared...into my belly! Also, I got a baggie of Big League Chew, because I didn't have that in a while(and by that I mean since I was a kid...like 5 minutes ago!lol). Oh and cupcake stickers, to sticker plaster my Nintendo DS.

Fourth stop: Walmart:

By this point I literally just wanted to get home! Like, yesterday!

The only thing I bought there, after finding out they didn't have that thing we were looking for, was brush guards. I don't have the originals, I bought something that is alike, so I wanted to try them out. I can totally tell the difference, these are much stiffer and have more material(?). You can tell they are much better quality, I will try to get more of them to just have these instead of the other stuff.

We did go to Rite Aid too, but their Makeup section is so big, it was more like an in and out. We checked if they had what we were looking for and since they didn't- we left. Otherwise I would've been there for over an hour and I was just too tired.

Hope you enjoyed this little haul with some reviews ^^.

What are your must have drugstore products?

Disclaimer: I purchased this with my own money, and this is my own personal opinion :)

Drugstore nail polish reviews+swatches

This might be a long post, because I will review the nail polish from this drugstore haul. (You can find it here: http://beautymadn3ss.blogspot.com/2013/01/drugstore-haulage.html).

When it comes to several items like this, I'd rather make just one post, instead of flooding my blog with a bunch of little ones, hope you understand!

Anyways...let's get down the business? (LOL!Just kidding, never used that phrase in my life, like ever!).

Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri in 470 Speedy Sunburst : I love the brush on the insta dri line, you can almost cover the whole nail with just one stroke. The color is super covering and you could almost go with only one coat, but you still might need the two for it to be completely opaque . It does dry quick (about 3-5mins), like the name says and I'm a sucker for fast dry polish, because I'm clumsy and prone to messing up my mani quickly. I really like the color too, it's a gorgeous hot pink!

Both pictures are 2 coats.

Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 200 Strobe Light :  The brush on this one covers a big chunk of the nail in one stroke and that comes in handy. It requires a lot of coats for this to cover completely. It takes about 3-5, but that's ok with me, because I want it as an added effect and not just the color I'm wearing. Usually, the Xtreme Wear line takes quite a while to dry, which is something I'm not a fan of. It's probably because of the glitter, this one takes way less, it dries within 2-3 minutes. The sparkles and glitter in this polish are just gorgeous, it has pink glitter and holographic sparkles. I think this glitter would look gorgeous on top of any color, though it also looks really really pretty by itself.

Spoiled by Wet n Wild - Did I Dye Too Blonde? : This brush is really really big and literally covers my whole nail, meaning one stroke and you're set. However, the pigmentation on this polish is really really bad, I don't think you can even get this polish to look opaque at all, which is really sad. Though if you wear it over an opaque white base, you should be fine. This doesn't dry too quick either, it was a bit of a let down. Maybe other shades from this line are better, but this one specifically is super super sheer.

3 coats(this is way brighter, but the camera doesn't capture that).

Nicole by OPI - All is Glam, All is Bright : I love the brush on this polish, it covers my whole nail and for some reason the handle is so comfy to me. That's probably because it's a longer handle though. This guy dries super quick, like in one minute or even less. One coat will give you cute glitter and about 2 or 3 more coats, depending on the thickness, will give you full coverage. I'm usually not a fan of either grey or red, they are not my favorite colors, but this one is actually quite cute!

Maybelline - Color Show in 830 Sapphire Masquerade(Limited Edition): First of all, I have to say that I HATE the brush on this, it's super thin and just horrible. It takes like 5 strokes to cover the nail and halfway through that I have to go back in the bottle and get more polish. Ok, fine maybe I am exaggerating and it just takes the usual 3(middle and then each side), but I still think the brush is tiny. This doesn't take long to dry, about 1-2 minutes. This takes 3 coats to be completely opaque. This polish is really pretty, the base color is a dark blue, with really fine blue glitter, medium sized purple glitter and then some bigger purple and magenta glitter. This polish is gorgeous by itself, but I can't get over the brush. It's just horrible, it doesn't just glide on your nail. I hate this brush so much, I think I could even say it's the worst brush I have ever found for a nail polish!

Sinful Colors - 1140 Ice Dream(seasonal, can't find it online):  This polish is so cute, yet so simple. It has two types of glitter, a smaller silver one and a bigger blue one. The name definitely fits it well, in my opinion. Probably because of it being a glitter, this polish dries fairly quick, about 2 minutes, 3 minutes tops. You can wear this on top of another polish, but you can also wear it by itself. It takes about 3-4 coats for it to give you full coverage.

Wet n Wild - Megalast in 211B Club Havana : The brush on this is huge! One stroke on my thumb and the whole nail is covered. The pigmentation is not bad, but it still takes about 3 coats for it to give you full coverage. This takes over 6 minutes to dry, which is a decade in my book, but then again it's really cheap, so I shouldn't be expecting more from it. Not a fan of this polish, because it takes a really long time to dry. It takes 3 coats, meaning it will be really time consuming if I want to paint my nails with it.

Swatch:

2 coats.

Wet n Wild - Wild Shine in Blazed and Dreamy Poppy: These polishes are super super sheer, 2 coats are not enough, 3 coats are not enough, you need 4! That's insane. The brush is really thin too, but it works just fine. They both take over 6 minutes to dry, which is a bummer, specially because Dreamy Poppy is such a cute color! Club Havana and Blazed are so alike- it's like they are dupes of each other, which makes me feel kinda dumb, because I bought them together.

Revlon - Top Speed in 110 Pink Lingerie and 120 Cupid : These polishes are really runny and liquidy, the brush is average sized and works just fine. These dry in about 5-6 minutes. They are not too sheer, but they don't have the best coverage. 2 coats almost get the job done, but to be safe I'd say go with 3. Both of these colors are really pretty pinks, nothing special, but cute.

Fergie by Wet n Wild - A016 Fergalicious : This basically covers my whole nail with one stroke. This color is gorgeous and looks great over a pearl white base like Julep Kate. This polish dries pretty quick, in about 2-3 minutes. It doesn't dry shiny, which is really cool. It has more of a matte finish to it. You can wear this by itself, but if your nails are long it will take a lot for it to cover the white part of your nails, I'm talking over 5 coats here. I personally like it with a white base. It makes the color look gorgeous and super bright. It actually looks way brighter and more neon than worn alone. I really love this polish a lot when worn with the white base!

3 coats of Fergalicious, this color is impossible to capture on my shitty camera, it's super super neon! It's a bright neon and has much more blue! I'm sorry, I tried so hard to capture it and I just couldn't, it's impossible.

Holiday Lights - LED Nail Enamel(can't find this online): First of all, the bottle is the cutest thing ever. It has a color changing light right in the cap! It's soooo cool! I love it! The brush is a regular brush. The polish has two shades of pink glitter and it's pretty cute. It dries really fast, in about a minute. You can either wear this by itself and it takes about 3-4 coats to give full coverage or just on top of another polish.

From left to right: Sally Hansen Speedy Sunburst, WnW Blazed, WnW Fergie, WnW Club Havana, WnW Dreamy Poppy, Revlon Pink Lingerie and WnW Spoiled Did I Dye Too Blonde(best picture of Did I Dye Too Blonde).

I'm loving most of the nail polishes I got. This was the first time buying Wet n Wild nail polish for me and, well I'm not too happy with it. Maybe some others in the spoiled line might be better and I'm saying this, because the one I got is a different kind of nail polish. However the ones in the Wild Shine and the Megalast are horrible, gonna have to remember that when I see pretty colors I want. I should make a mental note about this: Don't buy Megalast or Wild Shine even if they look super pretty, because they suck! I know "they suck" and "I hate them" are really heavy things to say, but I do, I hate them with the burning passion of a thousand suns!!!

I guess when it comes to drugstore nail polish, like with every drugstore product basically, it's a hit or miss kind of thing.

I'm happy with what I got and love most of it (except those 3 WnW from hell).

What's your favorite drugstore nail polish brand?

Picture disclaimer: Add blue in your mind to all the colors, in spite of using natural sun light and changing all the settings possible ever, I can't get my camera to show the colors true to real life. I toyed with Paint Shop Pro(it's like a Photoshop type software) for hours on end on one picture and I couldn't get it to show true to life, I'm sorry I wish I had a much better camera :(
Disclaimer: I purchased this with my own money, and this is my own personal opinion :)
