March Beauty Army Review+Swatches

If you don't know what Beauty Army is, it's a monthly subscription service that lets you choose up to 6 luxury beauty samples for $12 and also some full size products, your samples will be based on your beauty profile and then you will be able to grab 6 samples out of 9 listed. Their products could be: make up, hair care, skin care, body, fragrance, nails and men's samples.

I was stalking my mail box all day, because I knew I was getting my Beauty Army today!(Yesterday, the 14th). Only 8 days after I chose my products!! My window opened on the 5th, but I forgot about it and logged in super late to find no samples at all and by that I mean, no samples I actually wanted. So, I logged on the 6th at 9:00 PST and found a bunch of stuff! I was shocked to get my box so quickly this month, that's the only thing I don't love about Beauty Army, the company they use to ship, *sigh* slow Newgistics. Anyways...

Blah blah spring, well if it is indeed spring, why is it still so damn cold!? Don't be teasing me with spring, Beauty Army. It's still super chilly in upstate NY, it even snowed today -.-'

Enspri - Moisture Duo, Sheer Ceramide and Beyond Moisture: $4.08 for both samples, $2.65 for the Sheer Ceramide, $1.43 for Beyond Moisture 0.068fl/2ml. Full size of Sheer Ceramide is 1fl.oz and goes for $39, full size of Beyond Moisture is 2fl.oz and goes for $42. The Sheer Ceramide serum is a bit oily, you just need a little, because it goes a long way. The Beyond Moisture moisturizer felt really nice on my skin and got absorbed quickly. Both left my skin feeling super soft and moisturized. I liked this, but not enough to buy the full size of it. Nice thing to try though.

Grand Central Beauty - Skin Perfecting Polisher: $6.46 0.17fl oz, full size is 1 fl oz and goes for $38. I tried this out today and it's a great alternative to exfoliate your skin with a non abrasive method. I liked it and will use it up, but I wouldn't buy the full size. I can use an abrasive type of scrub and there are way more affordable options out there for that. Nice to try it out though.

Ineke - Hothouse Flower: $1.9 0.05floz, full size is 2.5floz and goes for $95. I've seen so many people raving about this perfume and that's why I picked it this month, but it's just not my thing, oh well now I know that, at least.

Skinn Cosmetics - Color Touch Eye, Cheek and Lip Glow (Teen Tone): Full size $17. I swatched this on my arm and it has a really pretty peachy pink shade, but on my lips it looked like a nude shade, interesting! I will definitely wear this.

Swatches:

Skyn Iceland - Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels: $3.75 for one pair of eye gels, full size is a pack of 8 pair and goes for $30. I tried these out and did see a bit of a difference, then again my eyes are not super puffy, unless I cry. I won't be buying a full size of these because I don't really need it much.

New York Streets - Dry Shampoo: Full size, $17.99. Tried this out today too and it worked pretty well, it didn't leave any white residue on my hair, it smells nice, but not too overpowering. Definitely added volume and controlled the oil on my scalp, it worked really well. This might take the spot of my new favorite dry shampoo.

Value and overall review:

The value of my box this month was: $51.18, really high value when the box is $12 and some change.

I really liked my Beauty Army box this month and will definitely use everything up. I hope they keep on adding new products to the selection, so I can keep on trying new things.

I enjoy this subscription and love the fact that I choose what I get. If you play with your profile the right way, you'll get great samples and awesome value. Though, at the end of the day, in my opinion, if you enjoy the products, the value doesn't matter that much.

I definitely recommend this subscription, the good thing is that you can't really blame anyone, but yourself if you don't enjoy the samples you picked, if there's something in the store you don't want and there aren't enough samples for it to be worth it for you to get a box, you can always skip.

November Beauty Army

For those who don't know what Beauty Army is, it's a monthly subscription service that lets you choose up to 6 luxury beauty samples for $12 and also some full size products. Your samples will be based on your beauty profile and then you will be able to grab 6 samples out of the 9 listed. Their products could be: make up, hair care, skin care, body, fragrance, nails and men's samples. The great thing about them is that if you don't want your box for the month cuz you don't like the products, you can just skip that month!

I wasn't too excited about getting this box cuz I didn't really like some of the products I got. When it's time to pick your products, you can always play around a little with your beauty profile to change the products you get there, I was doing it for a while and would still not get the thing I wanted the most(Shea Terra Whipped Body Cream in Gingered Pumpkin). I gave up and just went with the best options I had. One of them was a mystery product which got me excited!

This month's Beauty Army's box was black! I love black and I love Beauty Army boxes cuz they are sturdy and you can use them to store stuff. I use them to store make up and nail polish!

:O I see pink!  One thing I am glad about this month, is that there are no foil package samples!

First, the samples I didn't like!

Bath and Body Works - Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel: Sample Value: $3.28 (3 fl oz/88ml), full size is $11 for 10 fl oz./295 ml. I really didn't like the smell of this, but it's my personal preference, and I already have a Philosophy Shower Gel that I love. This will go toward a trade, probably or I will give it to someone as a gift.

M.A.D Skincare - Daytime Defense Shielding Moisturizer: Sample Value: $4.80 (0.13 oz/5ml), full size is $48 for 1.7oz/50ml. This was my "mystery" sample. This item was in my selection window and I didn't want it, when I picked mystery sample I thought I would get something that was not on my selection window, boy was I wrong! Not using this one either, going to be a trade item or something. I already have my moisturizers that I like and I also have some small samples that I can go through.

Suntegrity- 5 In 1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen Tinted in Light: Sample Value: $6.30 (.25oz/7g), full size is $45 for 1.7 oz/50g. The reviews about this item were not the greatest. I heard it doesn't work great on oily skin and my combination skin tends to go to the oily side.  Sadly I read the reviews after I picked it, so there was nothing I could do about it, this will also be a trade item.

Now, the stuff I did like:

You Da Balm – Coconut Natural Lip Balm: Sample Value:$3 (1 tube), full size on Beauty Army is 3 tubes for $8.99. I really liked this item and it's great for this weather in NY. Right now, my lips are drying a lot, so I keep this by my bed side. It has a really nice coconut smell, it smells just like real coconut and has a slight coconut taste. I like this a lot and might grab it if it shows up on my selection window again.

SkinnCosmetics - Twin Set in Coral Poppy: $18.50 Full Size. Both items have a pleasant and tasty grape candy smell, the bf loved it and so did I! The applicator on the lip gloss is meh, it doesn't dispense enough product, so I've had to grab the product 4 times for it to give me a decent amount of it. The lip stick is very creamy and easy to apply. The lip gloss is really sheer, so it basically only adds some sparkle and shine. It has a pretty thick consistency and it's really sticky, which bothered me a bit.

They look great on, the colors are cute, and it works wether you use them alone or together! I liked this product.

WhipHand – Loose pigment eyeshadow in Lock + Loaded: Sample Value: $2.80 (0.02oz), full size is $14 for 0.10 oz. It's a cute taupey-brownish color. If you use just a tiny bit, you can go for a bit of spark or, you can build it up for the color to show. It has good pigment= and it blends well. I liked this one, but did not like the tiny jar it came in. They make it hard to get the product, but it's ok I'll find a way to fix that. Overall the product is great!

It doesn't really look as taupe in this picture, but it is like taupe and brown. It does have a gorgeous sparkle to it, though.

The total value of my box is: $38.68, so a bit over 3 times of what I paid and that's great!

Even if I didn't like 3 of my samples, I'm still really satisfied with Beauty Army.  I won't be dropping them anytime soon. I love this service and they always seem to make my happy at the end of the day.

The wait!

I think I have fallen for all this beauty box craziness! so many boxes I want! but sadly cant have them all! Oh well, but I've heard really good things about the 3 I did get...which are Julep Maven,Beauty Army and New Beauty Test Tube!

Julep Maven:

It's a monthly subscription service that gives you(depending on your profile): 2 nail polishes with unique colors that haven't been released yet and another product(if you are: American Beauty, Classic with a Twist, Boho Glam, and Bombshell), or 3 nail polishes(if you are It Girl), all valued at $40. Also with your subscription you get 20% off of every purchase in Julep Maven Boutique.

All of that for $19.99 a month(always free shipping). Another really great thing, if you don't want your box for that month, you can either skip a month, send your subscription to someone else or just try a new style for that month. From time to time they have mystery boxes out for the same price as the regular monthly subscription($19.99), you can pick if you want a box with mostly nail polishes or a box of products, these boxes are valued at $60 and some lucky ones will get the $200 one).

I've seen the variety of nail polishes they have on their website and watched tons of reviews on this service, their colors are really cute(I'm just so excited to try them), the quality of their nail polishes is good and not only that, but their other products are well reviewed . Another  great thing I've heard is that they have really good customer service(always useful).

So all together this sounds like a service I will definitely enjoy and I really am looking forward to get all my boxes, I subscribed with a promo code(PENNY or color2012) that gets you the first box for a penny!

Right now I'm waiting for my introductory box (Classic with a Twist profile) and a mystery box! I picked "Product Lover",  I love nail polish but I'm still dying to try some of the other products they may have. I'm so excited to get my hands on both!!

Beauty Army:

This is another monthly subscription service that lets you choose up to 6 luxury beauty samples for $12 and also some full size products, your samples will be based on your beauty profile and then you will be able to grab 6 samples out of 9 listed. Their products could be: make up, hair care, skin care, body, fragrance, nails and men's samples.

I've seen several you tube videos and read reviews about this service, the products seem to be good quality products and its definitely worth the money. One awesome experience I personally had with their customer service made me really happy I picked them, I sent an e-mail about a billing error I was having and they replied right away letting me know it was just an error and everything went through fine. I was just blown away by their efficiency!

Same as with Julep if you don't want your box for the month you can just skip the month and you can cancel anytime.

I should be getting my September(I think) box in the next week or so, I'm super excited to get my hands on it, I'm glad I picked this service, not only because of the reviews, but their customer service really made me happy.

This are the samples I picked for my first box:

NewBeauty TestTube:

Created by New Beauty magazine, this service will get you deluxe samples and full sized products every 3 months for $29.95 + $8.95 shipping, after reading a lot of reviews and watching a lot of videos, it was so hard to resist subscribing to this service, but I finally gave in and did it.

The products they feature have amazing reviews and are totally worth the money you pay for it, products have a real value of $150(according to their website), with your "tube" you also get the New Beauty magazine.

I ordered my TestTube some days ago and they said my first one will ship within the next 3 - 4 weeks. Can't wait! I'm really looking forward to get it, all the reviews about this service and the products are just amazing.

There's another option for the TestTube, which is the QVC NewBeauty TestTube, it goes for $29.96 + $6.97 (+ tax) and includes products usually from brands featured sold on the site.
