February 2013 Sample Society + Reviews and swatches

I said to myself that I would cancel Sample Society, but I didn't, again. And I'm so glad I didn't, this month is AMAZING!

I love how quickly Sample Society ships. I got my tracking info yesterday(4th) and got it today(5th)! It's amazing! And always on time. Also, I thought I would share this, Customer Service is an aspect of a company I care for a lot, since I have worked in Customer Service and will likely work in it again. I contacted their CS to inquire about the beauty profile, because I didn't think I filled it out and the girl that was helping me was amazing! Super polite, really nice and followed every single step you have to follow when giving good customer service. She earned a positive escalation(when you give a positive review about an agent to their supervisor). I know that if I ever encounter any problem with Sample Society, their CS won't let me down!

Love their little mag and how it takes no time to read through it! Also, it has pretty useful tips.

I love me some teal polish too!

I see no perfume! Yay!!

All my goodies for the month! They look pretty gewd!

Oscar Blandi - Hair Lift Mousse(28.3g/1oz): $3.64, full size is 6.3oz and goes for $23. I used this today and to me it smelled kinda like bananas and something else, which I thought was really nice! It did give me extra volume and just the right amount of hold. I washed my hair today, so it's really curly/wavy and this held my curls without making my hair look or feel plastic. I also have no frizz! I'm liking this so, I will definitely keep on using it. My hair looks great thanks to this and I appreciate that! I definitely recommend this product.

Immunocologie - Treatment Creme VenoMAX(15ml/0.5oz): $82.5(OMG!), full size is 50ml/1.7oz and goes for $275. I always complain about getting anti aging products with Sample Society, but I'll likely never get to try something as fancy as this, so I'm wearing it and keeping it, for sure!
This moisturizer has a complex that mimics a viper's venom(crazy right?), which helps fight wrinkles. It also has Elk antler velvet, which is an anti-inflammatory that has shown to stimulate cell growth. This is supposed to help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, evens skin tone and helps to erase sun damage, protects the skin against inflammation, promotes natural hyaluronic acid accumulation and brightens the complexion (paraphrased information taken from Beautybar.com and Immunocologie's website).
I used tried this out this morning and of course I won't be able to tell you just yet if it has helped even out my skin tone, because I have only used it once. But what I can tell you is that my skin absorbed it super quickly, I didn't even have to work it into the skin all that much. The texture seems to be thick, but it actually is pretty light. My skin does feel super smooth though. I know I will keep on using this for sure, but sadly I can't tell you whether it helps with wrinkles or not, because I don't have any YET.

LaROCCA Skincare - Hibiscus Cream Cleanser with AHA(7ml): $2.1, full size is 4oz/120ml and goes for $36. I used this in the morning and I was swatching some eye shadows on my eyes earlier. This didn't really remove that and I had to use Purity after, so don't expect it to clean your make up. I would recommend this as a morning cleanser to use after you have removed your make up- because you did remove your make up last night when you went to bed, right? This was really gentle on my skin and it didn't feel as dry as it usually does after walking out of the shower. This is supposed to melt impurities without drying, help skin structure and sebum production, maintaining skin elasticity (paraphrased info from Beautybar.com).
How to use: Massage into face and neck for 2 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Maya - Water Facial Mist(70ml): $18.67, full size is 5oz and goes for $40. Water, with stuff! LOL. This water contains anti-oxidants that are supposed to prevent and repair sun damage, and also helps fight wrinkles and skin discoloration. I guess this is nice to use when you feel like your skin needs some extra moisture. However, I wouldn't advise to use this to set your make up like Sample Society said in their card. It's water, this won't set your make up, because...it's water, not a setting spray(gossmakeupartist explains this with the Evian product here). My bf laughed at this, because it's just water, but I'm quite glad I got this instead of a perfume sample, because I don't like them most of the time. I used this today before I applied the Venomax to get the "benefits" of it. I don't recommend buying this, because...well, it's water! So, I think the price tag on it is quite silly, but that is just my humble and maybe ignorant opinion.

Exude - Lipstick Gloss in Crimson: Full size $29. This product intrigued me, specially the packaging, which I think is quite cute and different! I like when companies think outside the box. The shade I got is Crimson, which I thought wouldn't look good on me, because my lips are  quite pigmented to begin with. Boy, was I wrong! It looks gorgeous on me, if I may say. It adds a cute amount of shine, without looking like an oil slick and has a really sexy color! You can wear a little bit of it for some extra shine, or add some more for the color to show. When I saw the shades this product comes in, I wanted the pink or the red, but I'm glad I got this one, because it forces me out of my comfort zone and I like that. The scent of this product is a bit minty, which is something I'm OK with. This gloss is not sticky at all! And it just glides on your lips. My lips feel super soft and moisturized and look super sexy. I'm absolutely loving it!  I definitely recommend trying this out!

Value and review:

The value of my February Sample Society is...$135.91!!! OMG! That's insane, I don't think they will be able to top that.

I have said that I want to cancel Sample Society, but I won't. I'm loving it, they actually make me try things that I wouldn't try myself, because I don't know they exist, so I wouldn't think about it or I can't afford it. Either way, I get to try new exciting things because of them and I like that!

I'm really satisfied with my Sample Society box this month. I mean, how could I not be, it's amazing! I'm glad they took me out of my comfort zone with the gloss and I got to try a fancy moisturizer!

I think this sub is definitely worth it, it makes you feel fancy and just spoil yourself a little bit every month. Their customer service is amazing and I have never had any problem with them. They ship super quick and through UPS, which is great too.

I definitely recommend Sample Society and you definitely get your money's worth.

What was your favorite product in this month's Sample Society?

Disclaimer: I purchased this with my own money, and this is my own personal opinion :)

  1. That looks like a fun box. I had Sample Society for a few months last year. I was always very happy with it, I just had to cut back on subscriptions. I think I will try it for a month or two later this year. I'd like to see that Crimson lipstick on your lips if you get a chance. Does it feel strange using that type of applicator?

    1. I'll tell the bf to help me take a picture and upload it later :) and nope, it doesn't, it just glides perfectly on the lips and all the product does end up on your lips because the applicator is plastic and not one of the regular gloss applicators.
