February Ipsy Glam Bag Review+Swatches

This month's Ipsy bag was kind of a "meh" month when I saw the spoilers. But to be honest I didn't hate it that much after I got it and tried some of the things I got.

I know this post is way late, but I didn't get my box as fast as some of the others did, which is totally fine, because Valentine's day was last week, so a lot of shipments were delayed.

I got my box on Friday and got to try all of the products during the weekend.

I really liked this month's baggie! It's cute :) I hope they start sending baggies with patterns though.

Red Carpet Ready was this month's "theme".

Doesn't look too exciting, right?

Pixi – Flawless & Poreless Primer(15ml/0.5 floz): $14.50, full size is 30ml/1.01floz and goes for $29. This went on smooth on my face, it felt nice on the skin. I didn't see any difference regarding the size of my pores, it just worked like any other primer. Nothing bad, but nothing special either. It dries really quick and makes my skin feel really smooth and soft.

Mica Beauty Cosmetics – Gel Eyeliner: Full size $30. This liner is really pigmented and it just glides on my lid. I love applying liner with an angled liner brush(this one), it gives me so much precision and I can apply it so close to my lash line! This wore amazing even through tears, didn't move an inch, not even on the waterline! It's amazing, for upper lash line, bottom lash line and waterline.

Swatch:

Sorry about how messy it looks, did it in a hurry!

Lash Card(4):  $5.72, full size has 10 Lash Cards and goes for $6.99. Meh! That's all I can say, I didn't even use the ones I got from Ipsy, because I had an old pack from Beauty Army. As you can see on the package it says it prevents smudging and clumping, well clumping is not prevented at all and well about the smudging, it may prevent it, but I think it's way easier to just be careful while applying mascara.  A good use, instead of an aid to apply mascara, is to use it to prevent eye shadow falling all over your face! Also, you can use one as a template and use a thicker paper, like business cards and make a bunch of them. Not worth the money in my opinion.

Pop Beauty – Smokey Lash Kapow!!!(0.17oz/4.8g): $12.58, full size is 0.25oz and goes for $18.50. This mascara promises to give volume and length without clumping or flaking. It didn't add a lot of volume or length to my lashes. By this I don't mean it didn't add any at all, I'm just saying that I've had better. I saw a lot of people over on MakeupTalk complaining about getting raccoon eyes from this mascara, but I didn't. This wore great throughout the day for me, no raccoon eyes and no flaking at all. Again, I cried while wearing this and it behaved amazingly! I don't love this mascara, to be honest. It does have it's pros though, you can definitely build it up and it won't clump too much or not at all. I would recommend this if you are not looking for a lot of volume, but still want a bit of drama. I love volume for my lashes, so this is not for me.

I'm wearing about 3 coats of POP Beauty Lash Kapow!!! In this picture. I didn't apply more, because I didn't want a super dramatic look.

Coastal Scents – Eye Shadow Sample Set in Glitz & Glamour(2g/0.07oz for the quad): $3.06, full size of each eye shadow is 1.3g and goes for $1.99(All four would be $7.96 for 5.2g). The shadows in this quad are(From left to right, top to bottom): Ashen, Incognito, Gunmetal and Candlelight (I was holding the quad upside down when I took the picture LOL). All of these shades have a bit of fall out, but nothing that makes it impossible to work with. The lighter shades (Ashen and Candlelight) are really creamy and shimmery, really pretty shades. The dark ones(Incognito and Gunmetal) are not as creamy, but still really pretty. They all are really pigmented and it's super easy to create a look with. I love this quad, but I think I would have loved either one of the quads being sent out.

Swatches(with no primer):

Look- wearing the liner, shadows and mascara:

I applied Candlelight to the brow bone and inner corner, Ashen to my lid and blended Gunmetal on top of Incognito on my crease. The liner is not super black and dramatic, because I didn't want a super dramatic look. The waterline is not the Mica Beauty one, but the upper lash one is.

Value and review:

The value of my box this month is: $65.86. Pretty gewd for me! Considering the bag is $10/month.

Things I liked: I loved the Coastal Scents quad, I have an 88 palette and this might be before they change the formulation of their eye shadows, but most of the shades are not pigmented at all. I liked the Mica Beauty liner a lot, it's really easy to work with it, it's really pigmented and wears great throughout the day. I liked the Pixi primer. It's nothing special, but it does make my skin feel super soft.

Things I didn't like or didn't "love": I hate Lash Cards. I think it's way overpriced for what it is at the end of the day, it's a piece of carton or paper, what ever. I wasn't surprised by the mascara, it's OK, but nothing different or special, there are better mascaras out there.

I still love my Ipsy subscription, I think it's worth it and really fun to get it every month.

Drusgtore lippies and eye liners review + swatches

The lippies and liners for this review are the ones from this drugstore haul. (You can find it here: http://beautymadn3ss.blogspot.com/2013/01/drugstore-haulage.html).

Rimmel - Moisture Renew in 105 Pink Benefit : I was really hoping I'd love this, but I hate it. I hate the applicator, I have to keep going back into the product several times to cover my lips. When worn by itself, somehow it manages to make my lips paler, which is odd, because they are pigmented by themselves. When I swatch this it looks like a gorgeous pink, but it definitely doesn't look like that on my lips. It tastes horribly and no, I don't eat my lip gloss, but you can't help but feel the taste of any lip product you wear at some point. It's called "Moisture Renew" and my lips didn't feel moisturized at all, actually they felt drier. I don't like this one bit and don't recommend it at all!

Maybelline - Colorsensational High Shine Lipcolor in 805 Pink Freeze :This is by far my favorite lipstick from all of these drugstore ones I got in that haul. It goes on super smooth, it feels super creamy, my lips feel moisturized and it still pigments amazingly. The shade is a really cute pink with a bit of a frosting look to it. The shade of pink is not too dark and not too light. It works great for getting a "sweet/innocent" kind of look. I love it! It doesn't have a bad kind of a taste, it's not annoying. It wears great throughout the day and doesn't make my lips feel dry.

Revlon - Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting : This is super soft and moisturizing on my lips. It doesn't have a lot of color, it just adds a frosting effect. I really like this and it wears great throughout the day.

Wet n Wild - Megalast Lipstick in 968 Pinkerbell : This is the prettiest color evar! This is a dupe for MAC Viva Glam Nicki. This lipstick is super pigmented and bright and it goes on soft on the lips. BUT, it gets super dry after a while. I like the color a lot, but if your lips are not the softest, most moisturized lips ever- it might show chapping. It does also create a ring around the lips, which is sad. It almost even goes on chunky.

Eyeliners:

Wet n Wild - Coloricon Eyeliner Pencil in 650D Purple and 659C Turquoise: Both of these eyeliners suck! The Turquoise is way less pigmented than the Purple. Seriously, they suck. They feel like I'm dragging a rock over my lash line, water line or lower lash line! They are not pigmented at all on the water line and somewhat pigmented on the lash line and lower lash line. This is, however only when worn alone. When worn with eyeshadow, they completely remove the eyeshadow. LOL! I do not recommend these at all! I know they are not worth a lot, but don't waste your money on this!!

As you can see they barely show at all on the water line.

Drugstore nail polish reviews+swatches

This might be a long post, because I will review the nail polish from this drugstore haul. (You can find it here: http://beautymadn3ss.blogspot.com/2013/01/drugstore-haulage.html).

When it comes to several items like this, I'd rather make just one post, instead of flooding my blog with a bunch of little ones, hope you understand!

Anyways...let's get down the business? (LOL!Just kidding, never used that phrase in my life, like ever!).

Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri in 470 Speedy Sunburst : I love the brush on the insta dri line, you can almost cover the whole nail with just one stroke. The color is super covering and you could almost go with only one coat, but you still might need the two for it to be completely opaque . It does dry quick (about 3-5mins), like the name says and I'm a sucker for fast dry polish, because I'm clumsy and prone to messing up my mani quickly. I really like the color too, it's a gorgeous hot pink!

Both pictures are 2 coats.

Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 200 Strobe Light :  The brush on this one covers a big chunk of the nail in one stroke and that comes in handy. It requires a lot of coats for this to cover completely. It takes about 3-5, but that's ok with me, because I want it as an added effect and not just the color I'm wearing. Usually, the Xtreme Wear line takes quite a while to dry, which is something I'm not a fan of. It's probably because of the glitter, this one takes way less, it dries within 2-3 minutes. The sparkles and glitter in this polish are just gorgeous, it has pink glitter and holographic sparkles. I think this glitter would look gorgeous on top of any color, though it also looks really really pretty by itself.

First picture is one coat, second is 3.

Spoiled by Wet n Wild - Did I Dye Too Blonde? : This brush is really really big and literally covers my whole nail, meaning one stroke and you're set. However, the pigmentation on this polish is really really bad, I don't think you can even get this polish to look opaque at all, which is really sad. Though if you wear it over an opaque white base, you should be fine. This doesn't dry too quick either, it was a bit of a let down. Maybe other shades from this line are better, but this one specifically is super super sheer.

3 coats(this is way brighter, but the camera doesn't capture that).

Nicole by OPI - All is Glam, All is Bright : I love the brush on this polish, it covers my whole nail and for some reason the handle is so comfy to me. That's probably because it's a longer handle though. This guy dries super quick, like in one minute or even less. One coat will give you cute glitter and about 2 or 3 more coats, depending on the thickness, will give you full coverage. I'm usually not a fan of either grey or red, they are not my favorite colors, but this one is actually quite cute!

Swatch:

 One coat.

Maybelline - Color Show in 830 Sapphire Masquerade(Limited Edition): First of all, I have to say that I HATE the brush on this, it's super thin and just horrible. It takes like 5 strokes to cover the nail and halfway through that I have to go back in the bottle and get more polish. Ok, fine maybe I am exaggerating and it just takes the usual 3(middle and then each side), but I still think the brush is tiny. This doesn't take long to dry, about 1-2 minutes. This takes 3 coats to be completely opaque. This polish is really pretty, the base color is a dark blue, with really fine blue glitter, medium sized purple glitter and then some bigger purple and magenta glitter. This polish is gorgeous by itself, but I can't get over the brush. It's just horrible, it doesn't just glide on your nail. I hate this brush so much, I think I could even say it's the worst brush I have ever found for a nail polish!

1st picture is one coat, 2nd is 2 coats.

Sinful Colors - 1140 Ice Dream(seasonal, can't find it online):  This polish is so cute, yet so simple. It has two types of glitter, a smaller silver one and a bigger blue one. The name definitely fits it well, in my opinion. Probably because of it being a glitter, this polish dries fairly quick, about 2 minutes, 3 minutes tops. You can wear this on top of another polish, but you can also wear it by itself. It takes about 3-4 coats for it to give you full coverage.

First picture is one coat, second is 2 coats.

Wet n Wild - Megalast in 211B Club Havana : The brush on this is huge! One stroke on my thumb and the whole nail is covered. The pigmentation is not bad, but it still takes about 3 coats for it to give you full coverage. This takes over 6 minutes to dry, which is a decade in my book, but then again it's really cheap, so I shouldn't be expecting more from it. Not a fan of this polish, because it takes a really long time to dry. It takes 3 coats, meaning it will be really time consuming if I want to paint my nails with it.

Swatch:

2 coats.

Wet n Wild - Wild Shine in Blazed and Dreamy Poppy: These polishes are super super sheer, 2 coats are not enough, 3 coats are not enough, you need 4! That's insane. The brush is really thin too, but it works just fine. They both take over 6 minutes to dry, which is a bummer, specially because Dreamy Poppy is such a cute color! Club Havana and Blazed are so alike- it's like they are dupes of each other, which makes me feel kinda dumb, because I bought them together.

Revlon - Top Speed in 110 Pink Lingerie and 120 Cupid : These polishes are really runny and liquidy, the brush is average sized and works just fine. These dry in about 5-6 minutes. They are not too sheer, but they don't have the best coverage. 2 coats almost get the job done, but to be safe I'd say go with 3. Both of these colors are really pretty pinks, nothing special, but cute.

Fergie by Wet n Wild - A016 Fergalicious : This basically covers my whole nail with one stroke. This color is gorgeous and looks great over a pearl white base like Julep Kate. This polish dries pretty quick, in about 2-3 minutes. It doesn't dry shiny, which is really cool. It has more of a matte finish to it. You can wear this by itself, but if your nails are long it will take a lot for it to cover the white part of your nails, I'm talking over 5 coats here. I personally like it with a white base. It makes the color look gorgeous and super bright. It actually looks way brighter and more neon than worn alone. I really love this polish a lot when worn with the white base!

3 coats of Fergalicious, this color is impossible to capture on my shitty camera, it's super super neon! It's a bright neon and has much more blue! I'm sorry, I tried so hard to capture it and I just couldn't, it's impossible.

Holiday Lights - LED Nail Enamel(can't find this online): First of all, the bottle is the cutest thing ever. It has a color changing light right in the cap! It's soooo cool! I love it! The brush is a regular brush. The polish has two shades of pink glitter and it's pretty cute. It dries really fast, in about a minute. You can either wear this by itself and it takes about 3-4 coats to give full coverage or just on top of another polish.

From left to right: Sally Hansen Speedy Sunburst, WnW Blazed, WnW Fergie, WnW Club Havana, WnW Dreamy Poppy, Revlon Pink Lingerie and WnW Spoiled Did I Dye Too Blonde(best picture of Did I Dye Too Blonde).

I'm loving most of the nail polishes I got. This was the first time buying Wet n Wild nail polish for me and, well I'm not too happy with it. Maybe some others in the spoiled line might be better and I'm saying this, because the one I got is a different kind of nail polish. However the ones in the Wild Shine and the Megalast are horrible, gonna have to remember that when I see pretty colors I want. I should make a mental note about this: Don't buy Megalast or Wild Shine even if they look super pretty, because they suck! I know "they suck" and "I hate them" are really heavy things to say, but I do, I hate them with the burning passion of a thousand suns!!!

I guess when it comes to drugstore nail polish, like with every drugstore product basically, it's a hit or miss kind of thing.

I'm happy with what I got and love most of it (except those 3 WnW from hell).

What's your favorite drugstore nail polish brand?

Picture disclaimer: Add blue in your mind to all the colors, in spite of using natural sun light and changing all the settings possible ever, I can't get my camera to show the colors true to real life. I toyed with Paint Shop Pro(it's like a Photoshop type software) for hours on end on one picture and I couldn't get it to show true to life, I'm sorry I wish I had a much better camera :(
Disclaimer: I purchased this with my own money, and this is my own personal opinion :)
